Lounge - Tea Terrace:

The custom of civilized tea drinking belongs to the great traditions of mankind. Tea and porcelain teacups were produced in China as early as 3,500 BC. In Europe Afternoon Tea became a fashionable social event in the 1840s, 200 years after the first tea was brought from China. It became a British institution and tradition, which Reid's Palace Hotel has pleasure in continuing in the Lounge and on the Terrace. We feel that teatime should be something very special - delicate finger sandwiches, buttered scones and delicious cakes contribute to making this time of the day the perfect one for catching up on gossip, finalizing a deal or simply for relaxing and enjoying the panoramic views. The Cocktail Bar:

Brisa do Mar: Seasonal from June to September. The summer, the alfresco Restaurant is located in the romantic setting of the Gardens, overlooking the Atlantic and serves light Mediterranean cuisine under the stars. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 19:30 - 22:00. Dress Code: Smart casual.

Les Faunes: Seasonal from October to May. Les Faunes delights the palate in an elegant modern ambience, offering stunning views of the Bay of Funchal and fine, contemporary cuisine accompanied by Piano Music. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 19:30 - 22:30. Dress Code: Jacket.

The Dining Room:

Enjoy a set table d'hôte or a la Carte Dinner of traditional cuisine in the elegant atmosphere of the classic Dining Room with Live Entertainment. Open daily from 19:00 - 21:30. Dress code: Jacket and tie.

Villa Cipriani:

Italian cuisine in an informal atmosphere, the Villa Cipriani is located on top of the cliff overlooking the Atlantic. An open-air Summer Terrace is available. Open daily from 19:00 - 22:30. Dress Code: Casual.

Room Service: Enjoy Breakfast in the privacy on your own Terrace. Continental Breakfast is available in the Room at no extra charge.

• Gourmet: Offering a wide selection of Restaurants, the Hotel is a special place for food lovers. The top chefs will organize classes and demonstrations in various themes, while the Island itself boasts the lodges of Madeira Wine and other local features. Dining in Madeira:

• Dinner at Madeira Wine Company: A memorable place, with unique surroundings in the oldest working wine lodges in Funchal, which are located in a building dating from the 17th century and part of a Franciscan Monastery.

Lunch or Dinner at Fajã dos Padres: Set near Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff in Europe, at the bottom of a steep cliff, which rises about 300 metres above the plantation. Accessable by boat, or by car and elevator, there is a Restaurant and a Bar facing the Sea on a rocky Beach where traditional Madeiran food is served.

The Hotel consists of 128 Rooms and 35 Suites, individually decorated in pastel colours and offering traditional style and comfort, with marble Bathrooms and vanity units. There are new wicker tables and chairs on the Balconies or Terraces, with the majority enjoying superb views of the Atlantic. Newly refurbished Rooms and Suites have a white embroidered bedspread.

ROOM TYPES:

Located in the East Wing of the Main Building, most of the Standard Double/Twin Rooms have a partial sea view. The Rooms are approximately 23 - 27 m2 and have newly renovated Bathrooms, Curtains and Carpets. Most of the Superior Double/Twin Rooms are located in the Garden Wing, with some located in the Main Building and afford a Sea and/or Garden view. The Rooms are approximately 27 - 32 m2. The First Floor Rooms in the Garden Wing are larger, with Terraces and partial sea views. The Second and third floor Garden Wing Rooms are newly renovated. The Premier Double/Twin Rooms are similar to the Superior Rooms, but have a better location and views. All the Rooms & Suites have Televisions with Video.

The Junior Suites have one Room comprising a Bedroom with sitting area. These Suites are located in the Main Building and the Garden Wing, have a Sea view and a Balcony. These Suites measure approximately 35 - 40 m2.

The Superior Suites have one Bedroom and a Sitting Room, with a Sea and/or Garden view, are located in the Main Building and the Garden Wing. These Suites are approximately 40 - 45 m2.

The Executive Suites have one large Bedroom, a large Sitting Room and a large Bathroom, with a Sea and/or Garden view and large Balconies. Located in the Main Building, these Suites measure approximately 50 to 55 m2.

The Churchill and George Bernard Shaw Presidential Suites have one very large Bedroom, a very large Sitting Room, a large Bathroom, a separate Toilet and a small Kitchenette. These Suites are approximately 60 m2, have a Sea and Garden view, large Balconies and are situated in the Main Building.

Reid's Hairdresser:

The newly renovated Hairdressing Salon is located on the fifth floor in the Main Building of the Hotel, with a Beauty Salon offering facial Massage and treatments using the famous La Prairie products. Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 10:00 - 13:00 and 15:00 - 19:00. Saturday: 09:30 - 12:30. Sunday closed.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMME:

All Year Fun and Relaxation for Adults and Children with "Fun at Reid's" Club. Reid's Palace ensures that both younger and older guests enjoy their holidays - by providing a special programme of activities, excursions and meals for children between three and nine years of age. "Fun at Reid's" operates from 10:00 - 17:00. A special team of Multilingual Minders will welcome children at the "Fun at Reid's" Room, located in the Hotel Gardens. The Room is equipped with Computers, Toys, Paints, Video and TV, Games and Logo. In addition to activities such as Fishing, Tennis, Table Tennis, Face-painting, etc Special Junior Excursions can be provided, for example, a Jeep Safari. Children may also dine at one of Reid's Restaurants accompanied by "Fun at Reid's" helpers and may watch a film together in Salon 28. The "Fun at Reid's" service is free; the only charges made are for Meals and Excursions. A separate Babysitting Service is also available for which charges are made. In addition to the above, Children's Rooms are equipped with mini Bathrobes and cuddly toys. "Fun at Reid's" operates all year.
