Golf
East Course at The Broadmoor Golf Club
The East Course was designed by Donald Ross in 1917. When it was completed in 1918, it was the highest 18-hole golf course in the United States. Numerous tournaments have been held on this course over the years, most recently the 1995 U.S. Women's Open Championship. Jack Nicklaus clinched the 1959 U.S. Amateur on hole #18, which is now #15 on the East Course.
West Course at The Broadmoor Golf Club
The resort's West eighteen-hole course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., was completed in 1964. The course is considered even more challenging than the first due to its steeply angled greens. The subtle breaks never seem to go the way you think. What you have to remember is that all your putts break away from the mountains. Probably the greatest challenge of all three courses is the putting.
Mountain Course at The Broadmoor Golf Club
Ed Seay of the Arnold Palmer group designed the third, Mountain Course, completed in 1976. The course, with its separate clubhouse, offers players a series of dramatic views and superb golfing. Currently, this is temporarily a nine-hole course. Probably the greatest challenge of all three courses is the putting.
